Staying/ going

So , if you were given the opportunity to go and live in another country , would you do it?

We are thinking - husband has been offered the opportunity to apply for a job overseas ... He has a good chance of getting it.

The only thing that would currently stop me is my library job! Seriously! Most of my family are all around the world and my parents travel and are 6 hours drive away most of the time!

The oldest is getting to the age of major school exams but the system he uses at his current school is used around the world, so is transferable. He didn't blink an eyelid when we were discussing it earlier tonight...
I think it would hit the social, sports manic middle kid the most and the youngest , it would not faze!

It's the school/ my job that would tear me apart - isn't that crazy! And a few of my friends.

And possibly that I would not be knitting in the heat of this country.

We have lived overseas when kids were young and it still was one of most memorable parts of my life and Melbourne to this day is my most favourite favourite city in the world!

I adore travel - my gosh- we could do so much from where we would be! The new food experiences, a new culture, the expat community - wow!

But my lovely job....

******* See my earlier post for the worldwide stationery travelling box sign up - I have a lot to send!
It may be two travelling bags in different parts of the world!!  *******

  1. That is a big decision Kimberley but as you say you already have the experience of living abroad so that experience is going to help you if you do. Personally I think it really enriches your life living abroad and it is a really positive experience for children once they settle down.
    Where would it be?

    Giveaway on the go!

  2. Surely there would be other libraries you could apply to work at? Make the decision as a family and stick with it.

  3. Sounds exciting kimberley, and something you've talked about before. I know you have worked hard to make your library a success but think of those exciting adventures you and your family could have. And I'm sure there are other libraries out there that need someone as enthusiastic as you are xx I say the say as Joy make the decision as a family, be brave, and stick with your decision!! P.S any hints on where in the world you might be going xxx

  4. WOW, that is a big decision. A hot climate...would there be air conditioning, then you could still knit. Gotta find a way around these problems so you can still craft. :)

  5. I have lived in hot countries in Africa and in Hong Kong and still managed to knit and sew and craft. Where there is a will there is a way! If the job contract is good - go for it - you will have so much to learn and add to your experiences. Internet keeps friends connected in ways never heard of a short while ago. And who knows - there might be a library somewhere waiting for your loving attention. Curious to know what schooling system your son uses, IB?

  6. Absolutely. We took our three children and lived in Australia for five years. It gave them an amazing experience and they are so adaptable to change. Go for it I say, life is short.
