Sustainable Christmas Trees

It took us until today, Monday December 22, to get our Christmas tree. Actually trees. I decided on a whim that we would buy a real tree that we would keep in a pot all year round and use for many Christmases. We usually buy a real tree, which is then added to the pile of previous year's ones behind the shed. So we jumped in the car and headed out to Rogers in Mangere (Tidal Road - you MUST go there - the best service and the cheapest of anything and everything garden wise in Auckland - cash only though) and picked up these two trees. They may not be the world's biggest or tallest or the poshest trees, but I love the fact that we can use them year after year after year.
Decorated with lots of handmade decorations from lots of swaps all around the world, some kiwiana ones and lots of my favourites bought all around the world too.
The trees are a pohutukawa (NZ Christmas tree) and a pecia Christmas tree.
I made the big Santa Claus at a class while living in Melbourne July 2002. I am still in awe of my talent from back then! :)

Do you buy a real tree or have a fake one?
