one - tulips - my favourite flower in one of my favourite colours (yellow being the other colour)
Two - found under the bed while doing a tidy up. The platter is from Morris and James and was a gift from my parents a long time ago. I have no idea why it was put under the bed, but had been looking for it and was really puzzled it was not in a cupboard...
Three - a 8km bike ride this afternoon in an area of Auckland we never go to. One of many areas booming with multiple new houses going up. The youngest said all the houses looked the same, and said that none of them had any character and that he would never live anywhere like this ever. Kiddo I hate to tell you, but I'm not sure you will ever be able to afford any house in this city when you are older....
Four - a sock started last night and it might even be finished tonight.... After a few days of knitting frustration (finding something that I can knit without looking at basically!), its another basic sock but with fab German wool. First time ever knitting with German wool - love it and the self striping nature of it.
Five - Noro wool. I thought people raved about it - bought this in Sydney or Melbourne a year or two back... I'm not a fan. It cost an arm and a leg too - tried a sock and another wrap, but no. Don't think we go together well - rather disappointed.
Two more days of school holidays - I'm not ready at all for school...
Beautiful tulips and platter, a stunning display. I am in awe of anyone who knits socks I have tried a few times with no success. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletesocks are easy once you get going. I promise! :)
DeleteWe visited Aukland this summer and I loved it! I enjoyed the ferry ride to get there and the Maritime Museum! What a nice city!
ReplyDeleteYour sock looks GREAT!
it is a great city, but a bit small for me :) Thanks for the sock love
DeleteBeautiful tulips! And what a nice find under your bed ;) The houses you've shown remind me of the beach huts you see in England. I hope your little guy gets his house of his dreams when he is all grown up. My son used to tell me he was going to buy me "a farm on an island". Still waiting! Love the yarn for your socks, very subtle striping. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWendy
thank you - I am trying to sort the entire house out! Am amazed at what i am letting myself get rid of (op-shops are doing well!).
DeleteWhat beautiful things. I love tulips too - they are such fresh and innocent flowers. And what beautiful wool for your project socks! Knitting is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe wool is from a trip to The Netherlands 4 years ago
DeleteIt was so fun to read about your area of the world. The tulips are so lovely as is the plate. Too bad about the Noro yarn. I've knitted/crocheted with different types of Noro yarn and I must say, they are unique in their own way; not something that I'm fond of either. Your new socks with the German yarn look so pretty. Have a wonderful weekend, Pat
ReplyDeleteI am a bit gutted at the Noro yarn - might try it again one day or my cousin might end up with it!
Deletewish I could find something beautiful under my bed!! lol x I HATE knitting socks .. so good for you x I have heard people rave over Noro.. but always thought it over priced and not the sort of colours I go for x
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of the Noro wool, but do not like how it knits up sadly.
DeleteThose tulips are beautiful! Ah I worry my girls will never afford a house in this area when they are old enough, prices are ridiculous. I love your sock, it looks so snug x
ReplyDeletei tell my boys to leave the country or go way down south for housing affordability.
DeleteSock is very warm!
Beautiful tulips and plate. And, isn't it amazing that things can end up in the most unusual places.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I didn't put it under the bed - perhaps the husband does not like it but it is on the dining table now.
DeleteBeautiful tulips! I love the colour. Glad you found your plate, it amazes me where things get to sometimes! I am with you on the Noro, not that I have ever actually used any, but whenever I see it and squish it just kind of sets me on edge. The colours are gorgeous, but I just don't think that I could actually use it! Thank you for joining Five On Friday. I hope that you have a great weekend - or are doing already I should say! xx
ReplyDeleteit's a nice easy weekend so far... I should be cramming notes into my head. Sigh.
DeleteSuch lovely tulips, and such a pretty platter. I could never get the "hang" of knitting!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lovely linky
ReplyDeleteI miss linky's and swaps and blogging
Here is hoping my newly found inspiration stays
I love tulips too
